11 Best BJJ Fighters From Around The World

BJJ

BJJ, or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is a martial art that teaches ground grappling. When it was created, people used it to learn self-defense. To this day, you can see trainees specifically training in it to learn how to fight.

Of course, other martial arts serve a different purpose. For example, today, karate became more about self-improvement rather than self-defense. Because of that, if your goal is to learn how to fight fiercely, BJJ is a more suitable choice.

The best BJJ fighters compete for the title of the best fighters, since if you know ground grappling, which is the most effective fighting technique, you know how to fight. As a result, many Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu masters—are also the ones that dominate the UFC, which is the worldwide fighting platform.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is also a suitable platform for self-improvement. All martial arts provide countless physical and mental benefits. These benefits include:

  • better physical shape
  • increased confidence,
  • reduced stress
  • learning self-defense.

And still, the list goes much further than the sneak peek I mentioned here.

This article will examine and discuss numerous fighters and rank them from #11–#1; #1 being the best. You’ll notice a pattern with these masters, they all use BJJ in different styles. Therefore, they’re able to surprise their opponents time and time again and thus compete in the elite platform: the UFC.

Of course, he also knows how to use other fighting techniques, such as boxing and other form of grappling. However, he’s most known for how he finishes the fight: lock the opponent in a grappling position and use it as an advantage.

Well, enough then about the family; let’s discuss why I decided to list Kron in the #10 spot.

Kron is one of the best BJJ fighters in the world because his style is truly fascinating to watch. He’s able to combine various other fighting techniques, including punching and kicking, and hence, dominate his competition.

His many grappling competitions have led him to be considered one of the best BJJ fighters worldwide. Because of that, I have no doubts this #10 spot is well-deserved – regarding his total efforts and achievements.

Nonetheless, he doesn’t compete as much as the Gracie family does. Because of that, I felt it was not appropriate to rank him in the top 5. And still, I do believe he’s one of the best BJJ fighters worldwide; although his lack of competition experience.

Final words

When I decided to write this article, the list unraveled itself before me. I didn’t have to do anything, and I immediately knew who was going to be #1-#5.

BJJ, or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—teaches the most effective fighting techniques in all of martial arts. Ground grappling is as effective as it is because it allows the fighters to finish fights in under a single round.

In fact, both in the UFC and in street fights, you can use a single grappling technique to finish the fight. Eventually, some BJJ fighters, hence grapplers, are able to finish fights in under a few seconds with a single execution.

That is unheard of with any other martial art, including boxing, Muay-Thai, and kickboxing. Therefore, if you desire to study the most effective martial art both for self-defense and MMA, consider BJJ.
