7 Reasons Krav Maga is The Best Martial Art | Helpful guide

Martial arts

Learning a martial art is valuable. However, some don’t hold the same value as others. Well, Krav Maga is the best martial art; here’s why.

Although most fighting styles will teach you to defend yourself, few focus on extreme situations, such as street fights. As a result, learning them will provide more value.

Well, Krav Maga is one of the deadliest self-defense systems and fighting styles to have existed. Consequently, the value it holds is up there. The following list is the reasons Krav Maga is the best martial art.

  • Suitable for anyone
  • Fantastic for self-defense
  • Deadly
  • Dynamic
  • Builds mental health in the form of self-development
  • Prepares you for extreme self-defense situations
  • First constructed for soldiers

If you’re unfamiliar with my story, I’ve been a special forces operator for a prolonged period. Consequently, I’ve been through many martial art classes, including MMA and Krav Maga

Overall, I can share the experiences my teammates; and I had with learning these fighting styles. That way, you’ll be able to fit these into your situation, so you’ll be able to make a wiser decision on the martial art you’re going to learn.

1. Suitable for anyone

The beauty of learning a fighting style is that it can impact anyone’s life. Age, gender, or any other external factor won’t influence the benefits you’ll experience from your training. As a result, everyone should begin learning martial art.

Krav Maga is suitable for everyone because the training adapts to your circumstances, and not the opposite. Consequently, you shouldn’t feel discouraged when starting to learn it. Overall, you’ll notice benefits flowing your way the day you begin to train.

The first positive results you’ll notice from your training is better physical shape and less stress. Because of that, starting right now is one of the best actions you can take; to improve your quality of life.

Again, your age, gender, sex, and background aren’t a factor to consider when beginning to train in Krav Maga. Because of that, if you feel discouraged and hesitant, don’t. When you start training, you’ll notice that your group won’t care for external factors, such as the previous list.

That’s the beauty in the dynamic nature of people wanting to better themselves. Most individuals in such groups won’t care for your background. The sole thing they’ll do is try and make you improve, which is a central purpose in Krav Maga groups.

If you want to learn Krav Maga, but are hesitant, read an article on the five reasons everyone should train in it.

2. Fantastic for self-defense

Many martial arts aren’t as valuable to be practical for relevant self-defense situations, such as street fights. As a result, if your goal is to learn how to defend yourself, consider training a fighting style that is suitable for that purpose.

Krav Maga is fantastic for self-defense purposes. Because the trainee will learn to counter extreme situations through the training, it’s highly effective for such scenarios. As a result, one who trains in Krav Maga can overcome said self-defense cases, such as street fights.

There are a few drills that anyone who does Krav Maga goes through. As a result, there’s a standard for the level the trainees need to achieve. For instance, all classes include an exercise where the trainees learn how to disable an attacker quickly.

In that case, everyone will be capable of overcoming most hostiles fast. Now, in today’s world, that’s the single most vital aspect of knowing self-defense.

If you’re incapable of disabling an opponent rapidly, you may encounter further issues, such as the attacker pulling a weapon. As a result, such a lesson is remarkably crucial to go through.

Additionally, in training, you’ll go through a class that’ll teach you how to disable an attacker with a knifeNow, such a situation is dangerous, and you shouldn’t go face to face with the attacker. Yet, if we must, we’ll disable the attacker.

Because you’ll know how to disable an attacker with a knife, when it happens, you’ll react quickly. Because of that, your reaction time will shorten. Additionally, your muscles will act immediately (muscle memory), and you’ll be able to disable the attacker non-hesitantly.

3. Deadly

Many martial arts are deadly in their nature. Consequently, if you want to learn self-defense, picking one of these as the one you train in is a wise choice.

Krav Maga is the deadliest martial art one can learn because its training teaches you; how to overcome dangerous situations quickly. As a result, when these scenarios do happen, you’ll respond non-hesitantly. For instance, police officers who do Krav Maga once a week perform under stress better.

Officers with Krav Maga background and without it performed several arrests and self-defense skills under low and high anxiety. Well, the results you expect directly correlate with the study’s results.

Results showed that ones with experience performed better under said circumstances than officers with no Krav Maga background. (Renden PG, Landman A, Savelsbergh GJ, Oudejans RR. Police arrest and self-defense skills)

What can we interpret from that? The officers who trained in martial arts automatically reacted in the dangerous scenarios they’ve encountered. Earlier in the post, I mentioned that the muscle memory from the training you’ll go through is valuable.

As a result, we can correlate that saying to the study. Hence individuals with a Krav Maga background can overcome dangerous situations more smoothly because they have the muscle memory to react quickly.

4. Dynamic

Knowing how to adapt to any situation to overcome it is crucial. Because of that, learning a martial art that teaches you how to do it; is vital for seeing progress and knowing how to use it for self-defense.

Because Krav Maga is dynamic, you’ll be able to overcome many dangerous situations, such as street fights or knife attacks. As a result, it holds high value in self-defense and aggression. Lastly, I highly encourage you to learn it since it’s fantastic for most purposes.

Knowing how to use martial art to protect yourself and others is vital in today’s world. Hence learning a fighting style that’s suitable for that purpose is wise.

Well, because Krav Maga is dynamic, it’s especially relevant. You’ll be able to learn from training the ways to overcome many situations that unfortunately happen on a daily basis.

I highly recommend you to follow the link to an article about whether Krav Maga is a solid fighting style. It correlates well with this subject.

Eventually, many martial arts won’t fit self-defense as much as Krav Maga does. Because of that, you may find them not suitable for every situation. Now, what does that mean? Well, you have to adapt rather than them to you. The beauty in Krav Maga is that it adjusts to the trainee. You can take whatever you want to take from it. As a result, it’s highly effective.

5. Builds mental health in the form of self-development

The benefit training in martial arts grants the trainee is that it’s a form of self-development. Because of that, many people who have low self-esteem or self-confidence can highly benefit from training in such a sport.

A study conducted in 2019 showed; doing martial arts helped the trainees better their mental health. Consequently, we understand that it does work.

My experience with Krav Maga, in particular, has been superb regarding increasing self-confidence and self-esteem. Because of that, I know that once you begin your journey, you’ll immediately notice results, some earlier than others.

Continuing with the study, young males who lacked role models, social support, and gender norms began training in MMA. Eventually, the following are the results of the analysis.

Because they participated in an activity that built them up from the ground, they overcame various obstacles in their training. Because of that, they built a more powerful character for themselves while increasing their self-confidence. Much like MMA, Krav Maga will impact the trainee similarly. As a result, training is directly in touch with better mental health.

6. Prepares you for extreme self-defense situations

One of the most beneficial assets Krav Maga grants the trainee is the preparedness one will have for self-defense in extreme situations. Now, various martial arts don’t offer the same values. As a result, it’s a distinct one that Krav Maga is known to have.

Krav Maga prepares you for extreme self-defense situations because the training highly resembles these dangerous situations. As a result, when they do occur, you’ll be able to overcome them with ease. Lastly, you’ll react non-hesitantly and automatically.

In this section, I’ll include a video that demonstrates the different situations one can encounter on the street that require the use of self-defense. I recommend you watch it till the end.

Knowing how to counter cases like these is highly desirable in today’s world. When doing Krav Maga, you’re investing in yourself. That time will later transform into knowing to use it as a self-defense tool.

That’s one of the reasons it’s a form of self-development. Not only will you better your physical shape, self-confidence, self-esteem, and mental health, but you’ll also be capable of using self-defense. Hence learning and training in it are valuable, and you shouldn’t miss the opportunity.

Notice that in the video, the trainees react automatically. Thus they’re able to surprise the hostiles and disable them quickly.

If you know how to do it, and your muscles know to act when you notice danger, you’ll respond the same way they did in the video.

Although it seems as if this video is all staged, which it is, it reflects reality. From personal experience, I can tell you that this is how I react. My mind connects to my muscles in these situations, and I immediately take action. As a result, the feats you see in this video are possible, and you can do them too.

7. First constructed for soldiers

In one of my recent posts, I listed this as a disadvantage. Although I stand by my opinion, there are two sides to the story. Let me explain.

Because Krav Maga is originally for soldiers and special forces operators, its nature is more aggressive than technique. Because of that, one will be able to disable an attacker quickly using it. Overall, the fact that operators use it is a massive advantage in favor of it.

In my training, the emphasis in the classes was never on the technique or on the move itself; It was more on the way you do it. For instance, in a knife drill, you have to pin the opponent to the ground as soon as possible. In other martial arts, the emphasis is on the technique.

Well, in Krav Maga, they time you. As a result, when it happens, you’ll disable the attacker quickly. Hence the chances of you getting hurt slim down.

A study conducted in 2020 showed that learning Krav Maga techniques can be taught in a single lesson. Later, they explained that after a few sessions, there was no improvement in the motor skills of the trainees performing these techniques. (The effects of single versus multiple training sessions)

Well, to be clear, there’s a single lesson I want you to take from this study. Start as soon as possible. A lone session can be the change you need. In addition, it can teach you self-defense in a short period. Because of that, the IDF implemented this system in training their special forces.

I like to think that if I were to learn another martial art, my aggression level would’ve gone way down. As a result, I wouldn’t have been able to perform as sound as I’m now.

Yet, understanding that Krav Maga isn’t perfect is vital for seeing progress. Don’t expect to start doing it; a day later to notice the results. Although they come quickly, they build up slowly.

The IDF has seen positive results from teaching its operators Krav Maga. Because of that, I’m super confident in its abilities to assist everyone in improving their life. Because of the success over the years, I wrote this article in extreme confidence.

Conclusion

Overall, Krav Maga is the deadliest, most practical martial art one can learn. Hence training in it is valuable for the trainee. By starting, you’ll notice positive results, such as increased self-confidence and self-esteem, naturally flowing into your life. All you have to do is grasp them and enjoy the process.

Today, there are many fighting styles, and different instructors teach them. Consequently, before choosing the one you want to do, ensure you check each one’s pros and cons.

I wrote an article just on that. Follow the link to read the nine best martial arts you should learn and their pros and cons.

There isn’t a single part of me that’ll tell you not to begin training in Krav Maga. As the study I mentioned earlier suggested, a single lesson is all you need. As a result, if you want to know self-defense to a respectable level, I encourage you to train in it.
